The Kill-Off (1989) is a gripping crime thriller adapted from a novel by renowned author Jim Thompson. The story unfolds in a quiet coastal town in New Jersey, where the local nightclub, Pavillion, is the sole source of entertainment. The club's owner, Pete (Jackson Sims), struggles to keep the business afloat, employing a small staff including Rags the bartender (William Russell), Myra the barmaid (Jorjan Fox), who is also Pete's daughter, and Ralph the cleaner (Steve Monroe). In an attempt to boost attendance, Pete hires a stripper, Danny Lee (Cathy Haase). Danny Lee's performance captivates Ralph, causing tension with his wife, Luanne (Loretta Gross). Luanne, who is bedridden with no medical explanation, becomes jealous and starts spreading malicious rumors. She accuses Myra of drug addiction, implicates her boyfriend Bobbie (Andrew Lee Barrett) in drug dealing, suggests an incestuous relationship between Pete and Myra, and blames Rags for a fatal car accident. As these rumors spread, Luanne is found dead, marking the start of a violent and chaotic chain of events.
