A Kiss in the Dark (1949) follows the story of Eric Phillips, a renowned concert pianist who is feeling the strain of his demanding career and fears that his talent is waning. His life takes an unexpected turn when he learns that he is the proprietor of an apartment building, where the tenants have a multitude of complaints. Initially reluctant, Eric's manager advises him to move into the building to recuperate. As Eric becomes more involved with his tenants, particularly a charming model named Polly, he finds new inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose.
