Vares - Sheriffi (2015) follows the gripping journey of private investigator Jussi Vares as he stumbles upon two lifeless bodies in an isolated dwelling; one of the deceased exhibits signs of ritualistic mutilation. A full year passes before Vares is commissioned to delve into the case. His inquiries uncover evidence supporting long-standing whispers about a shadowy figure known as "The Sheriff," who allegedly governs the criminal underworld of Finland's western coast. Vares' pursuit leads him perilously close to "The Council," a clandestine gentlemen's club serving as the executive arm of The Sheriff, where human life holds little value. As Vares inches closer to the truth, he becomes a marked man. When an innocent life is lost, Vares must navigate the murky ethical terrain where justice and injustice blur. The true identity of The Sheriff is exposed, but will he ever face the consequences of his actions in a court of law? Will justice ultimately prevail?
