The Spider (1931) follows the enigmatic Chatrand the Great, a magician portrayed by Lowe, who possesses extraordinary hypnotic and magical abilities. During a captivating evening performance at an elegant theater, a shocking murder takes place. A hand adorned with a menacing spider ring raises a revolver, the room plunges into darkness, and a gunshot echoes through the air. When the lights flicker back on, a theatergoer is found fatally wounded on the floor. As the police secure the scene and prevent the audience from exiting, Lowe employs his magical prowess to assist in unmasking the culprit.
