After years without contact, estranged daughter Frankie (Kate Lyn Sheil) and granddaughter Clara (Natalia Dyer) have been unexpectedly invited by aging actress Ethel (Frances Conroy), Frankie’s estranged mother. The visit ensues into a strange and surprising weekend of fantasy, disillusionments and an extravagant party at her mountain cabin. Cloistered in Ethel’s home in the remote South Carolina woods, Clara is dragged into the brittle, tense relationship between her mother and grandmother. At the same time, Ethel’s bohemian glamour and the wild landscape begin to exert a strange psychic influence on her.
