Election 2 (2006) unfolds in the dynamic landscape of post-1997 Hong Kong, where even the venerable "Wo Shing" Triad Society must yield to the influence of China. The ambitious and resourceful leader, Jimmy (Louis Koo), appears to be the ideal choice to guide the Society into the new era. However, Jimmy has other plans; he desires to step away from the Triad life. When Jimmy's business endeavors in China hit a snag, the Mainland government extends an enticing offer: assume the role of Wo Shing’s next Chairman and steer the Society according to the government's directives. In exchange, Jimmy would receive full government support for his business ventures. As rival candidates engage in fierce competition for the Chairman position, Jimmy gradually realizes the true cost of his agreement.
