The Kid (1997) follows the journey of Jimmy Albright, a talented young sports enthusiast with a deep love for boxing. His life takes a transformative turn when he crosses paths with Harry Sloan, an experienced and retired boxer turned trainer. Recognizing Jimmy's raw talent and potential, Harry takes Jimmy under his wing, not just to hone his boxing skills but also to guide him through the challenges of growing up. Under Harry's watchful eye, Jimmy dedicates himself to rigorous training and climbs the ranks in his weight class. However, there's a significant hurdle in Jimmy's path: his parents, Don and Doreen, are unaware of his boxing aspirations, adding an unexpected layer of complexity to his pursuit of success.
