Tarantula (1955) follows the story of a dedicated scientist, Professor Gerald Deemer, who is on a mission to combat global food shortages due to the rapidly increasing population. Utilizing atomic science, he creates a unique nutrient that allows animals to thrive on it exclusively, but with a startling side effect: it causes them to grow to colossal proportions. When his research team tests the nutrient, they experience uncontrolled acromegaly, leading to severe deformities and madness. One of the researchers, in a fit of insanity, attacks Deemer and injects him with the solution. As a result, Deemer begins to transform, while a monstrous tarantula wreaks havoc on the surrounding area.
