Beauty and the Beast (1946) tells the tale of a struggling merchant residing in the countryside with his son Ludovic and his three daughters. The eldest two, Felicie and Adelaide, are portrayed as cruel, self-centered, and arrogant individuals who mistreat the youngest daughter, Belle, by using her as a servant. One fateful day, the merchant finds himself lost in a dense forest and stumbles upon an enigmatic castle. In an attempt to bring a rose back for Belle, he inadvertently triggers the wrath of the castle's owner—a monstrous figure with both human and beastly features, endowed with magical abilities. The Beast sentences the merchant to death unless one of his daughters takes his place. Belle, driven by love and selflessness, volunteers to save her father and ventures into the castle, where she gradually uncovers the Beast's hidden gentleness and humanity.
