Paranorama 1 et 2 (S)
1978 · Documentary · 19 min. · France
Two (senti)mental self-portraits. (1) “Kitsch” self-portrait: made in July 1977 in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris; it was recorded using a fixed, non-sound camera, remotely controlled by Jakobois. This results in a series of winks where the ellipse is no longer concealed; snippets of passages punctuate the field of vision limited to the photographic frame. (2) “Punk” self-portrait: made in June 1978 in New York's Central Park; was recorded using two mobile and sound cameras moving along a circle drawn around the paranoid subject-object author. This results in a double series of winks and “ear” winks; we will thus see and hear twice the same temporal sequence according to two different angles of view, but shifted in the projection time, the two cameras operating at the same time operated by a common remote control.
