Rebound (2005) follows the journey of Coach Roy, portrayed by Martin Lawrence, a former college basketball legend whose focus has shifted from the game to securing endorsements. His volatile temper lands him in hot water, resulting in a ban from college basketball until he can prove he has his anger under control. Eager to return to his prestigious coaching career, Roy receives an unexpected offer from the Mount Vernon Junior High School "Smelters" basketball team. Initially reluctant, Roy sees this as an opportunity to clear his name and quickly return to his former glory. However, the stark contrast between his old college coaching days and the middle school environment presents unexpected challenges. As Roy begins to teach the basics of the game—passing, rebounding, dribbling, and scoring—to his young team, he discovers a renewed passion for coaching and the sport he once loved.
