ndranath Chowdhury, chairman of five companies comes to the Darjeeling with his family for a holiday. Labony, Indranath's wife, once a sensitive woman is now resigned to total submission to her husband's will. Brother-in-law Jagdish is a widower and a womaniser. The other members of the family are Anima, the eldest daughter, her husband Shankar, their six year old daughter Tuklu, Anil and monisha is son and daughter of Indranath. Paranab, a bright young engineer is in love with Monisha. Monisha does not like him enough to marry. Shibsankar, once a private tutor to Anil meets Indranath on the Mall and introduces his nephew Ashok with a hope to get a job for him. A bitter quarrel ensues between Anima and shankar and because oftheir daughter an uneasy compromise is achieved. Ashok on discovering the hollow man, within declines indranath's offer of a job. Monisha breaks away with Pranab and strikes a warm relationship with Ashok. Indranath senses that the domination is at an end and realise the inevitable truth...
