eXistenZ (1999) follows Allegra Geller, the top game designer globally, as she conducts a trial run of her latest virtual reality creation, a game that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. During the session, she is ambushed by a zealous assassin, forcing her to escape with Ted Pikul, a novice marketing assistant tasked with her protection. In the chaos, her organic gaming device, known as a pod, which holds the sole copy of the game, is compromised. To assess the damage, Allegra persuades Ted to integrate a gameport into his body, allowing him to join her in the game. Their journey through the game becomes a perplexing odyssey where the boundaries of reality and the game's narrative become increasingly indistinct.
