Seesaw (TV Miniseries)
1999 · Movie · 180 min. · United Kingdom
In this adaptation of the best-selling novel, a gripping kidnap story focuses on what happens after the kidnap is over. Money – the love and the loss of it – is the subject of this gripping psychological thriller that takes an ordinary family and strips away the façade of their affluent middle class life. The event which precipitates a profound crisis for the Price family is the brutal kidnapping of sullen 17 year old Hannah Price. She is a typical teenager who doesn’t enjoy the best of relationships with her hardworking parents. Morris and Val Price choose to co-operate with the kidnappers and raise the ransom by selling their successful business. After all, it’s only money and Hannah’s life is at stake. But when Hannah is returned to her family, the Prices realise they have paid the price – financially and emotionally. Being plunged into poverty provokes disturbing revelations from which they may never recover.
