The theater piece "The Lady of Trevélez" was written by Carlos Arniches, and published in 1916. Is regarded as the work more characteristic of the author. It is part of a genre to which their own author called "tragedy grotesque" in the count tragedies, narrated in a tone comical and humorous. It is a theatrical divided in three acts, and tells the story that occurs in a capital provincial, where a group of jokers, form the "Guasa Club", in which are engaged in jokes and to have fun at the expense of doing harm to others. At around one of those jokes, will develop the fabric of the work. It consists in believing ms. Trevelez, neighboring middle-aged, tawdry and not very agraciada by nature, that "Numeriano Galan" (Luis Varela) are in love with it, because "Tito Guiloya", (Antonio Medina) ringleader of the club, has written a letter pretending to be "Numeriano Galán" .
