Yellow Canary (1943) follows the journey of Sally Maitland, who in 1940 is compelled to depart from England due to accusations of being a Nazi sympathizer, even by her affluent family. During her voyage to Halifax, Canada, she encounters two suitors: the charming Polish aristocrat Jan Orloch and the reserved British naval intelligence officer Jimmy Garrick. Sally appears more receptive to Orloch's attentions and consents to meet his mother upon arrival in Halifax. However, upon reaching her destination, it becomes evident that the identities of those around her are not as straightforward as they initially seemed.
