Ferien (2016) follows Vivi (Britta Hammelstein), a young woman on the brink of burnout. On the verge of becoming a lawyer and moving in with her boyfriend Adam (Golo Euler), she finds herself paralyzed by indecision. Seeking refuge at her mother's (Victoria Trauttmansdorff) place, she discovers there's no room for her. Her father (Detlev Buck), sensing her need for respite, sends her to a remote island, armed with advice on positive thinking and self-improvement. Initially overwhelmed, Vivi gradually explores the island and befriends its eccentric inhabitants. She secures a job at Otto's (Ferdinand von Schirach) small store and finds lodging with single mother Biene (Inga Busch) and her 13-year-old son Eric (Jerome Hirthammer). Vivi learns to appreciate the island's imperfections and liberates herself from the constant need to prove her worth.
