The Hill Which Sounds of The Bell (Part II) (1949) is the second installment in a trilogy. Following the construction of a sanctuary on the hill for war orphans, Shu¯hei embarks on a journey to Tokyo in search of his vanished brother, Shu¯kichi. Despite his efforts, Shu¯hei is unable to locate him. However, he encounters numerous war orphans who are coerced into working as pickpockets for criminal syndicates, igniting his resolve to liberate them from their dire circumstances. Concurrently, Shu¯kichi, who has been enduring starvation while awaiting his elder brother, finds solace and assistance from an elderly woman, enabling him to make his way back home.
