A Woman's Face (1938) tells the story of Anna Holm, a woman who, as a child, suffered a facial burn that left her disfigured and embittered. This trauma shaped her into a harsh and resentful individual, leading her down a path of blackmail and crime alongside her associates. One of her victims, in exchange for payment, arranges for a renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Wegert, to restore Anna's beauty. With her new appearance, Anna transforms into a kinder person and severs ties with her former life. She takes on a role as a governess for a young boy who is set to inherit a substantial fortune. However, the boy's malevolent uncle plots to eliminate the child to claim the inheritance, enlisting Anna's former accomplices to carry out the sinister deed.
