Lost Command (1966) is an adaptation of Jean Larteguy's novel "The Centurians," featuring Anthony Quinn as the central character, Lieutenant Colonel Raspeguy. The narrative commences with Raspeguy and his paratrooper battalion engaged in a fierce battle at Dien Bien Phu in Indo China, where they fight until the very end. Following their defeat, Raspeguy and his surviving officers and soldiers are captured by the Viet Minh forces and eventually sent back to France. Despite losing his battalion, Raspeguy is later assigned command of the 10th Paratrooper Regiment, which is deployed to Algeria to combat Arab guerrilla forces seeking independence. Raspeguy assembles his reliable veterans and prepares the regiment for battle, drawing on the hard-won lessons from their Indo China experiences.
