Honolulu Lu (1941) follows the story of Consuelo Cordoba, a determined young woman who attempts to steer her uncle, Don Estaban Cordoba, away from his life of deceit. Posing as a wealthy tourist in Hawaii, Don Estaban's schemes are disrupted when a local woman befriends Consuelo and helps her secure a position at the 'Blue Chip Cabaret'. Performing under the stage name Lu, Consuelo captivates audiences with her singing, dancing, and comedic talents, particularly delighting the sailors in attendance. The enthusiastic crowd encourages her to participate in the Miss Honolulu contest, but Don Estaban has other plans. He secretly enters Consuelo in the contest as his high-society niece, Consuelo. Meanwhile, Don Estaban's past catches up with him as he is recognized for a previous scam. In a desperate attempt to evade authorities, he falsely accuses Lu of being an international spy.
