Blue (2009) follows the journey of Gary "Blue" Meekins, who faces immense challenges in his pursuit of the American dream. Raised in the crime-infested streets of Harlem, Blue's life takes a tragic turn when he loses both parents to a violent murder. This loss propels him into a life of survival, where he encounters various financial hardships. Blue's path crosses with two old acquaintances, Chip and Dutch, who are now deeply involved in criminal activities. They entice Blue into participating in a robbery, falsely presenting it as a job against a neighborhood drug dealer. However, Blue soon discovers that the target was an innocent family, an event that deeply affects him and prompts him to abandon his criminal lifestyle. Seeking redemption, Blue returns to his childhood boxing gym and his mentor, China Banks. Despite facing numerous setbacks, including a layoff from work and the departure of his long-term girlfriend Crystal, Blue remains determined to achieve his dream of becoming a boxing champion.
