Red Faction: Origins is an upcoming feature-length television movie pilot being produced by Universal Media Studios and UFO Films debuting on SyFy, it is the first film in the Red Faction series of video games. The movie stars Brian J. Smith as Jake Mason and Robert Patrick as Alec Mason, the main protagonist of Red Faction: Guerilla. The film takes place between Red Faction: Guerilla and the upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon. The film will release in May 2011 to coincide with the release of the fourth game in the series, Red Faction Armageddon. PLOT The film takes place twenty-five years after the events of Red Faction: Guerilla, when Alec Mason led the Red Faction and the Martian Colonies to freedom. Soon after Alec Mason started a family with his compatriot Samanya. However, thirteen years after the liberation of Mars, Alec Mason's vengeful enemies killed his wife Samanya and kidnapped his daughter Lyra leaving a broken hero left in its wake. The film follows the adventures of Jake Mason, the last remaining son of hero Alec Mason, who is now an officer in the Red Faction, the movement which liberated Mars 25 years ago from the oppressive Earth Defense Force which almost decimated the civilian population on Mars. He discovers that his sister who was kidnapped 12 years ago is still alive, he then journeys out to locate her as a new powerful enemy sweeps through the surface of Mars. However, when he finds her he discovers that she is now one of the enemy, a cold-blooded soldier who has sworn to destroy the Red Faction
