Resurrection (S) (1909) follows the journey of Nekhludoff, a Russian aristocrat who is part of a jury. During the trial, he recognizes the defendant, Katusha, as a woman he had previously seduced and then left behind. This realization leads him to understand that his past actions have significantly contributed to her descent into a life of crime. Driven by guilt and a desire for redemption, Nekhludoff embarks on a mission to save Katusha and, in doing so, seeks to redeem himself.
