Monte Walsh (TV) (2003) follows the lives of Monte Walsh and Chet Rollins, seasoned cowhands who traverse the open range, taking on various ranch jobs with the ease of their trusted horses. Their existence is a blend of long stretches on the range and infrequent visits to town. Monte maintains a long-standing relationship with Martine Bernard, a local prostitute, while Chet is captivated by the widow who runs the hardware store. Their days are filled with camaraderie and friendly rivalry with fellow cowboys. However, their world is disrupted when Shorty Austin, one of their colleagues, loses his job and turns to cattle rustling and murder. This event sets Monte and Chet on an unforeseen path, altering their lives on the range forever.
