Body Double (1984) follows Jake, a struggling actor who returns home to find his girlfriend with another man, forcing him to seek new accommodations. Balancing his acting classes and a role in a low-budget vampire film, Jake searches for any available housing. He crosses paths with a fellow actor who needs someone to watch his house. The arrangement is mutually beneficial, with Jake staying in the house and the actor, Frank, showing him his 'favorite neighbor,' a stunning woman who performs a nightly striptease with her window open. Jake becomes infatuated with the neighbor and manages to retrieve her stolen purse, but his claustrophobia paralyzes him when the thief flees through a tunnel. When Jake witnesses a murder, he realizes the police are quick to suspect peeping Toms. Jake uncovers a series of strange coincidences and must investigate on his own, as the police are unwilling to help.
