La Tirana (1958) is a period drama set in 18th-century Madrid, focusing on Rosario, a renowned actress known by her stage name, "La Tirana." She is a close friend of the famous painter Goya and the Duke of Fornells, but her heart secretly belongs to the Earl of San Esteban, who tragically perishes in a duel with Fornells. The story takes a dramatic turn when Diego, the Vicomte of Acari, arrives at the royal court seeking vengeance for his brother's death, the Earl of San Esteban. At a lavish masked ball, Diego encounters "La Tirana," and the two are instantly drawn to each other. However, their passionate love is threatened when the Duke of Fornells reveals to Diego that "La Tirana" is allegedly responsible for his brother's demise. Torn between his thirst for revenge and his deep affection for "La Tirana," Diego's internal conflict reaches a boiling point. The narrative culminates in a tragic repetition of history as Fornells and Diego engage in a fatal duel.
