In the Bedroom (2001) follows Matt Fowler, a dedicated doctor in his hometown of Maine, and his wife Ruth, a choral music teacher originally from New York. Their son, Frank, returns home from college for the summer, balancing a part-time job as a lobsterman to save for graduate school and a secret romantic involvement with a local single mother. As the picturesque Maine summer draws to a close, the family is thrust into a devastating tragedy that alters their lives forever.
