Thieves Like Us (1974) follows the journey of two escaped convicts from the Mississippi State Penitentiary in 1936 who join forces with a third accomplice for an extended bank robbery spree. The trio becomes notorious for their unique skills and daring heists. The youngest member of the group finds love with a woman he meets at their hideout, while the older man enjoys his criminal lifestyle and has a romantic interest of his own. The third member is known for his quick romances and heavy drinking, taking pride in his work. As the young lovers begin to envision a life beyond their criminal activities, a disastrous robbery in Yazoo City leads to the downfall of the gang. Despite the end of their profitable ventures, the story continues as all three are wanted men, each with differing perspectives on their predicament.
