Turkish for Beginners

Poor Lena Schneider (Josefine Preuß), her life is no picnic and it has left her disappointed and traumatized, thanks to her mother's permissive, hands-off parenting style. Now her mother (Anna Stieblich), a shrink and eternal teenager, has the nerve to send her on a vacation to Southeast Asia. But Lena's worst fears come true when 'Mr. Raging Hormones', Cem Öztürk (Elyas M'Barek), sits down next to her on the plane. Now German emancipation meets Turkish machismo. And just when she thinks things couldn't get any worse, their Boeing has to make an emergency landing out in open waters and Lena soon finds herself stranded on a deserted island with Cem, his deeply religious sister Yagmur (Pegah Ferydoni) and a stuttering Greek named Costa (Arnel Taci). While the young adults battle it out in the tropical paradise, Lena's mother, Doris, meets Metin Öztürk (Adnan Maral), Cem and Yagmur's dad, a poster boy for assimilation and integration, who's also looking for his children.
