Synopsis of What's Eating Ralphie May?
Filmmaker Cat Rhinehart spends one year in 2015 closely following comedian Ralphie May, leading up to his planned weight loss surgery. Initially intended to be a weight loss documentary, what is captured instead is a raw and intimate portrait of a family dealing with addiction, a wife coming to terms with her inability to change the person she loves, and a tragically flawed comedian breaking down during one of the last years of his life. (Synopsis by director Cat Rhinehart). May died on October, 2017. He was 45 years old.
