La sombra de las ideas
2010 · Documentary · 56 min. · Spain
The Franco regime transformed prisons into the final destination of thousands of people who, through art, tried to capture the democratic ideals of the Spanish Second Republic. But neither overcrowding, nor isolation, nor tortures stopped that fever for learning and creation that arouse under the walls of repression, which "made from prisions a University". Marcos Ana, Carlos Álvarez, Vicenta Camacho, Carmen Campoamor, Julio Diamante, Angelina Gatell, Stella Manaut and Melquésidez Rodriguez Chaos are part of this story: the living testimony of that union in which were born "weapons" to keep fighting and resisting, through the brush and the word, despite repression and systematic forgetfulness to which they were subjected themselves and their artworks.
