La virgen de Guadalupe (1976) unfolds in December 1531, a time of significant turmoil and change. Spanish soldiers, under the ruthless Captain Delgadillo, are inflicting harm and death upon the indigenous population, while priests voice their concerns to the viceroy. Temoc, a young Aztec leader, abducts the viceroy's fair-haired daughter, not with malicious intent, but to expose her to the wonders of Aztec culture. The two develop romantic feelings for each other. Meanwhile, some natives are embracing Christianity, much to Temoc's displeasure, leading him to attempt to harm the pious Bernardino. Concurrently, a humble and gentle Indian named Juan Diego experiences a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary, which he faithfully reports to the bishop. When the bishop requests evidence, Juan Diego presents him with one of the most iconic symbols of the Western Hemisphere.
