La Mallette Noire is a psychological thriller depicting the traumatic events that occur over the period of one night in a Canadian residential school infirmary. In 1930, 8 year old Elizabeth and her infant cousin are taken from their family and quarantined due to a tuberculosis scare. Here, they are submitted to agonizing visits from the resident nurse and visiting physician. Although somber in form and content, La Mallette Noire is ultimately about young Elizabeth's spirit, strength and will to survive.
