After 20 years of teaching in the public school system, exhausted and impatient, Verônica is not charmed by the students any more, the way she was in the beginning of her career. One day at school, Verônica realizes that nobody has come to pick up Leandro, an 8-year-old boy, and decides to take him home. However, when she arrives in his favela she finds out that drug dealers have killed his parents and are after Leandro. She knows she can’t leave him there, so Verônica flees with the boy. The farther she runs, the deeper she gets into a world close to her reality, but extremely distant from what she desires! However, while trying to overcome her own resistance and to win Leandro’s trust, Verônica finds a new way of living.
