Aware (1979) follows the story of Sudarshan Sahni, who wishes for his son, Raju, to marry his Europe-based friend's daughter, Rita. However, Raju is deeply in love with Anu, and the two plan to tie the knot. Anu's father, Pradeep Rai Choudhry, disapproves of Raju and cautions Anu against any involvement with him, but his warnings fall on deaf ears. The young couple decides to elope and get married, settling in a small, secluded village where they enjoy several months of blissful harmony. Eventually, their respective parents discover their whereabouts and arrive to persuade them to return to their original lives.
