David Lean devoted the last six years of his life in pursuit of a dream called Nostromo. Based on Joseph Conrad’s novel of the same name, Nostromo was going to be an epic, painstakingly crafted movie with an attention to detail that, when compared with the action-packed, special-effects dominated movies of the day, seemed to be from a bygone era. Nostromo: David Lean’s Impossible Dream retraces the production process of that film.
