A Way Back Home (2013) follows the journey of renowned country singer Trey Cole as he decides to go back to his hometown after many years of absence. Trey left the town without a backward glance, even when his brother's military service ended in tragedy, leaving his sister-in-law Norma to raise their son alone. Feeling lost and disconnected, Trey recalls his first haircut in the brown leather chair at Charlie Suffleton's barbershop, seeking the wisdom and guidance of the man who had been a father figure to him when his own father, General Wes Cameron, was emotionally distant. Upon arriving at the shop, Trey is greeted by Charlie's old friends playing music in the back room, only to learn that Charlie has passed away a few months earlier. Overwhelmed by memories of Charlie's kindness and influence, Trey resolves to confront his own father and reconnect with his estranged family to honor Charlie's legacy and set things right.
