Morituri (1965) is a gripping World War II espionage thriller. Marlon Brando portrays Robert Crain, a German deserter who is compelled by British Intelligence officer Colonel Statter (Trevor Howard) to pose as a Gestapo officer. His mission is to infiltrate a German blockade runner transporting a precious rubber cargo from the Orient. Crain's objective is to secure the rubber by disabling the explosives set to destroy the ship if captured. Crain successfully boards the vessel, but Captain Mueller (Yul Brynner), wary of the Nazis, keeps a close eye on him. When survivors from a sunken ship come aboard, Crain fears exposure by two rescued German submarine officers. To avoid detection, he instigates a mutiny among Mueller's officers and the new arrivals.
