Upstate New York, winter. A young Italian woman, Eleonora, inherits an enigmatic house from her deceased lover and goes to see it for the first time. No sooner has she arrived than she meets the caretaker of the house, Leslie, who shows her around. But the moment he leaves her alone, nothing seems to work: Eleonora feels out of control and panics, calling Leslie to come and help. From then on, Eleonora realises how much she needs him, becoming more and more dependent on him. The house reveals secrets about a Karl she didn?t know and the more she finds out, the more she transfers her devotion to Leslie, until they become lovers. But while Eleonora can only live with obsessive love, Leslie has avoided the subject all his life.
