The Great Love (1918) follows the journey of a patriotic young American during World War I, eager to combat the Germans before the U.S. officially enters the war. He travels to Canada to enlist in the British army. After undergoing training in England, he is deployed to the front lines in France, where he sustains injuries. Upon returning to England to recover, he develops romantic feelings for the daughter of an Australian clergyman.
