How to Care for Strangers (S) (2020)

Foster, a young adult who fears the responsibilities of adulthood, meets Eden, who grew up in an unstable home and was never provided the luxury of a real childhood. They instantly connect due to their shared feelings of social isolation and a longing for the comfort of a typical childhood, though their initial meeting is interrupted by Eden's inability to open up and form a real connection. The two of them part ways, though suddenly find themselves in a fantastic dream-world of what seems like childhood ecstasy, featuring brightly colored walls, an abundant sugary feast, and an overly caring mother-like figure. While Eden finds the comfort she has never experienced in this alternate reality, Foster begins to feel babied and comes to realize that he is more grown up and ready to face adulthood than he previously knew. To exit this world, they are told that they must both agree and will never be able to return. Foster expresses his desire to return to reality, though is resisted by Eden who has claimed that she's finally found a "home". The two conclude that they will exit the dreamworld together and find the comfort they both long for within their newfound friendship.
