Russian Consul (2024) is set in 1973, focusing on Serbian psychiatrist Ilija Jugović, who is reassigned to Prizren, Kosovo, following a patient's death in Belgrade. Jugović secures a position at a local hospital, where he encounters Ljub Božović, a history professor who identifies himself as the 'Russian consul.' Božović, seemingly a psychiatric patient, prophesies that 'Russia will be Russia again and Kosovo will be Serbian again.' Jugović navigates a complex web of local Albanian strongmen, covert separatists, and Communist Party members, all of whom are opposed to him. The most influential among them, Halit Beriša, employs various tactics to expel Serbs from Kosovo. Beriša targets Ljubo Bozović, attempting to force him out of his home and the region. Bozović stands his ground, refusing to sell his house and confronting Beriša directly. Dr. Ilija Jugović steps in to defend Bozović, adding another layer of tension to the unfolding drama.
