Gaby (1956) follows the story of a talented ballet dancer named Gaby, who, during her hurried journey to catch a bus in 1944 London, crosses paths with a charming corporal named Greg. Captivated by her grace and beauty, Greg attends her ballet performance, only to be met with Gaby's initial reluctance due to her French heritage and disinterest. However, Greg's persistence eventually wins her over, and by the end of the day, she agrees to marry him. Before their wedding can take place, bureaucratic hurdles and Greg's military deployment delay their plans. Greg promises to marry Gaby upon his return, but when news of his death reaches her, Gaby, heartbroken, decides to move on and make herself available to anyone who would want her.
