Mondo becomes best friends with Woodie, (after Woodie falls through the roof window while looking at Mondo's mother in the shower) as they go surfing together (At first, Mondo didn't have a surfboard, but Woodie got him one that had a hot dog design) as they try to get bullies, weed-smoking bums, and Mondo's crush and her nerdy brother.
