Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) follows the story of Freddy Benson, a con artist who preys on women's sympathy with fabricated tales of his supposed misfortune. In the picturesque town of Beaumont sur Mer, Freddy crosses paths with Lawrence Jamieson, another con man who operates at a higher level, targeting wealthy women with similar tactics. Recognizing Lawrence's expertise, Freddy persuades him to mentor him in the art of high-society deception. As their time together comes to an end, Freddy decides to extend his stay, leading to a tense agreement: the first to swindle $50,000 from a young female target wins, and the loser must leave town. The challenge is set, with Lawrence's financial prowess pitted against Freddy's youthful charm.
