By the war's end, they have amassed millions, only to learn that Luke had been reinvesting their earnings into Confederate Bonds. This fact-based film portrays Jim Fisk as one of history's most notable con-men and entrepreneurs. The narrative culminates in Fisk's role in the "Black Friday" Financial Panic of 1869, alongside financier Jay Gould (who is not featured in the movie), and their failed attempt to manipulate the U.S. gold market. Additionally, the film explores a historical love triangle involving Fisk, Boyd, and Mansfield.
