Coronado (1935) unfolds against the backdrop of Southern California's luxurious Hotel Coronado, a haven for the elite. June Wray, a talented singer with the Eddy Duchin Orchestra, resides in a tent-city with her father, Otto, and her eccentric sister, Violet, far from the hotel's glamour. Johnny Marvin, a budding songwriter and heir to a wealthy automobile fortune, is a guest at the hotel. Their paths cross, and an immediate connection sparks between them. However, Johnny's father disapproves of their relationship, leading to a series of challenges. The story takes an unexpected turn when two sailors, Chuck Hornbostel and "Pinky" Falls, who harbor a dislike for Marines, enter the picture, with Chuck marrying June's quirky sister.
