Angel of Death (2002) follows the story of a new detective, Maria Delgado, who arrives in Seville during the Holy Week and is tasked with collaborating with detectives Quemada and Torillo to solve a peculiar murder case involving twins, who were killed using multiple bullfighter knives. Maria's investigation leads her to interview an elderly woman, Ms. Catalina, who discovered the bodies. Simultaneously, a tourist is assaulted on the streets by a masked assailant wielding a bullfighter knife. The trio of detectives links the incidents and traces the clues to a brotherhood. The director of the brotherhood is also fatally stabbed, prompting Maria to revisit Ms. Catalina at a convent. During this encounter, Ms. Catalina reveals her troubled past during Spain's Civil War, bringing Maria one step closer to unraveling the truth behind the murders.
