Freefall (TV) (2009)

Freefall (TV) (2009) follows the intertwined lives of two men, 'Diamond' Dave Matthews and Gus, who work in the high-stakes world of finance. Dave, employed by a cutthroat firm, offers mortgages to families who are often unable to afford the repayments. Meanwhile, Gus, a divorced city banker, excels in selling corporate mortgages over the phone, finding a twisted sense of satisfaction in his success. Dave crosses paths with his old school friend Jim Potter, a security guard with a family, and lures him into a mortgage deal that promises a better life. However, the Potters soon find themselves drowning in debt, leading to Jim's eventual job loss. Gus's relentless work ethic strains his relationship with his daughter and his colleague/lover Anna, who ultimately resigns. The global recession hits Gus hard, causing him to lose his job and his will to live. Jim confronts Dave about the devastating consequences of his actions, but Dave remains unrepentant. The Potters face repossession but find a new home, while Dave continues his deceitful practices with a different company.
